Why do I need Insurance?

Why do I need Insurance?

Because it is the law! All states require an owner of a motor vehicle to carry some type of liability insurance. States that do not require the vehicle owner to carry car insurance include Virginia,  New Hampshire, and Mississippi, which offers vehicle owners the option to post cash bonds but no one really wants to live there! After this blog, we hope to highlight some of the other reasons why Auto Insurance is important. Every time you take the wheel, you are at risk, you may be the victim of a negligent driver, or you may cause an accident. The risk is unpredictable, and the damages are too. Car Insurance is designed to prevent the public from paying out of pocket for auto accidents, instead, people pay Insurance companies an estimated premium so that the Insurance Company could pay all or most of the costs associated with an auto accident or other vehicle associated damages. Insurance is essential because it covers your expenses in the event of vehicle damage or injuries to yourself other drivers, passengers, or pedestrians.

Please consider the following examples : Example#1: Donald Duck, the friendly driving duck, is driving home from a tortoise game of Duck Duck Goose. Unintentionally he rear-ends the vehicle in front of him, which happens to be Mighty the driving Mouse, Mighty is driving his brand new Mousemobile. The estimated damage caused to the Mousemobile is 5,000.00 dollars, Mighty also sustained injuries as a result of the accident. Consequently, he underwent medical treatment to get him to his prior condition before the crash. When it was all said and done, the property damage was 5,000, and Bodily Injury damages were $8,000 a whopping 13,000 Dollars. Fortunately, Donald had Insurance through StreetSmart Insurance. The claim was filed, and Donald’s carrier took paid every single penny due to the claim. Donald was startled by accident, but financially unbothered. Example#2: Let’s pretend Donald had no Insurance; Donald would have to pay out of pocket for the damages he is liable for, namely the bodily injury and property damage caused. If Donald refused to pay or could not pay, he would be sued and taken to court. The court will schedule a payment plan to pay off the damages or force Donald to forgo some of his assets to pay for the claim
